project: front parking sensors
planning to do my front parking sensors tomorrow if its not raining. there'll be two sensors in the black bumper strip either side i think . would have liked one in the middle somewhere too but as im such a tight git i opted for the cheapest kit i could find with only 2.
this is it http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y16...kingsensor.jpg already put my switch here under the indicator stalk. itll ground the unit. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y16...npdcsensor.jpg at some later stage im going to make my angel eyes switchable and put another switch like this one next to it. i always dither about a power supply ...im in two minds red/yellow VA line (which is easy to access) or ignition (violet /yellow) i cant find anywhere easily accessible with lots of room to cut spice etc (dont like X253 which is a mess) what do you reckon? i think the box (ive attached the speaker to the top of it to keep it all in one place) will go in the dash, but if its too loud or a horrible sound ill stick it under the bonnet somewhere dry. |
spent the last couple of hours slotting wires through things and drilling my bumpers (worrying!!)
tested it all out first though not finished as the coaxial cable supplied with the kit isnt long enough?! gotta get some more... here are the pics using red/yellow 12V (VA) goes to sleep 15 minutes approx after car turned off mainly because its more accessible than ign pos 1 kl15 and 5 amp fuse (probably be better with smaller). http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y16...DSCN0025-1.jpg control box positioned far rh side under gm control unit http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y16...s/DSCN0029.jpg drilled bumper....ouch! http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y16...s/DSCN0030.jpg routed wires through baulkhead http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y16...DSCN0026-1.jpg into dde box and through gromet http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y16...s/DSCN0028.jpg final result front bumper .. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y16...DSCN0032-1.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y16...s/DSCN0033.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y16...s/DSCN0034.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y16...s/DSCN0031.jpg will silicone sensors in later to be continued... |
Looks Nice. I like the way there postioned, so now u can detect stuff off to the side of the car as well as to the front.

Nicely done!

Why is there a need for this? Its kind of cool but seems pretty pointless if you know how to drive a car.
