Gas Cap SOS

Just bought a 2002 325i yesterday, and I can't get the gas cap off. I can't get it to loosen up at all. Is there some sort of trick to it that I am unaware of? I don't want to break it by trying too hard if there is some button or latch that I'm missing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know if you're joking or I'm misreading your post or what but.... turning it to the right is tightening it.

Dude. Turn it to the left.

Yeah I got the whole righty-tighty thing down. The clicking was something new to me, and I didn't know if it was some sort of lock that you had to undo before twisting left to unscrew. So I take it that there is no button or latch that I'm missing?

No latch or lock or anything but the gas caps are a little unconventional. They don't unscrew like typical gas caps. Just turn it to the left until it won't turn anymore then pull it out. I have a 2004 but I'd assume yours is the same way. I took some pics of mine that might help ya understand...

Thanks madagi! I was trying to twist instead of just pulling. I've never seen a gas cap like that before. Now I've got enough gas to get to work tomorrow. It's always the littlest things with me - hopefully my next issue will be solved just as easily.

Hmm. Apparently I was pretty close to failing my emissions testing due to my faulty gas cap. Where can I get a new one? :P
