Engine Coolant Light/Window Regulators
Wow, so I've now owned my 2001 BMW 325i for a little under a year now, and I absolutely love it. I however, at the same time, hate the little silver whore for multiple reasons.
I am a former Z3 owner, and that had its problems too, but I digress..
Everytime I turn the car on, and I run it for a few minutes, I receive the yellow coolant light that indicates that my coolant is low. I know for a FACT that it is not low, for I have checked it multiple times. I dont know what to do about this? Any suggestions?
I have now gone through 3 window regulators on every regulator but the driver side door. I really cannot figure out what the hell is causing them to fail so often? Whats worse is they scratch my after-market tint everytime they go out! Any help?
Also, I would like to put new rims on the car, but I dont even know where to go begin. Is there a site that offers bimmer rims at a decent price, and what modern BMW rim looks best on a 2001 325i. Suggestions? Pictures?
your coolant level problem is a sticky sensor. (I'm guessing you're not using BMW anti-freeze/coolant - whch is usually the cause)
window regulators usually aren't a problem -do you have kids or alot of passengers? Window tint isn't made "window removal friendly"
check www.tirerack.com for wheel selections or www.capitalwheels.com for oem BMW wheel pics

Yah i own the same car i had the same issue for the coolant but then i ended up replacing the expansion bottle .May be mine was different to yours cos you had coolant at the right level but still getting the light .That could be the sensor under the expansion bottle or loose wires to the connector

i have an '02 330i, replaced every regulator in the car. they break where the steel cable mates with the plastic end cap. mu guess is the grease on the slide mechanism dries out, eventualy causing high friction on the slide, the motor overpowers this by pulling the steel cable through the plastic end cap. if you live in a very warm climate, this is a likely cause since my dealer says it happens rarely in the northeast.

Your Ride: Sick cars.
The regulators are simply weak where the cable secures to the glass mount bracket. It's plastic, gets weak, cracks, and breaks. The more they are used, the quicker they'll break.
The coolant sensor on that car doesn't go into the actual coolant, if it has a sensor on the bottom of the expansion tank. It screws into a hollow hole, so coolant type won't affect it.
