vibration when braking
I have a late 99 E46 323i (2.5) saloon and have got a problem which I cant seem to get fixed - therefore any constructive comments would be much appreciated...
Basically I had the front disks and pads changed all round in January 07 (not done by the dealer), everything seemed ok for the first 6 - 8 weeks, then I started to get vibration through the car when braking. The steering did not shake it seemed as though it was coming through the break pedal. I have since had the front disks and pads changed again and had the lower radius arm on the front passenger side replaced with the 2 ball joints and bearing (this was replaced only 13 months ago (both sides) and has had to be replaced yet again), the problem seems to have been aleviated a bit but I still do not have smooth braking - the vibration is a lot worse at higher speeds. I hav also had new tyres all round and all wheels balanced.
Could it be the rear disks are warped? can anybody suggest anything else. The car has not been heavily kerbed nor been in any accidents.

I'm assuming "lower radius arm" means the control arm . . there's a bushing at the rear of this arm, was that replaced? That can cause the vibration.
Brake rotors can be distorted or "warped" as a result of overtorquing wheel lugs. Could this have happened when you had the tires replaced? Lastly, worn wheel bearing or distorted hubs can can transfer their problems to the rotors. It's important to take that into account when getting new rotors; good mechanics will check to see if they need to resurface them to alleviate these issues.
Yes I mean the control arm, when I had them replaced originally (13mths ago) they didnt change the rear bushes, but have since had them done (about 6 months ago) both sides. The problem I had was before I had the tyres changed so I dont think they have been over torqued. I have also had the car rigourously checked by a reputable mechanic / garage ie wheel bearings & ball joints etc (this week) - which brought up the problems with regard to one of the control arm ball joints and bearing being kaput. so I think this is pointing to the rear discs being "warped" - what do you think?
