Tiny vibration when braking - United Bimmer Community

OK, I know it's probably the rotor but my question is can I take it to any brake service station or is this something I should leave for the dealer?

You might want to consider any GOOD BMW reputable shop or dealer. Most so called repair shops will mess up brakes or almost any BMW repair.

+1 for the dealer- in case the problem is something else, you're better off at a BMW service center.

The problem may not be with the brakes/rotors, but could be with the ball joints, hence a more involved job. My advice is reputable independent shop first, then dealer, if you're uncertain as to the real cause.

there's a local brake shop that will inspect it for free. Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

3050rpm is right.... take it to a mechanic first and have it check. It could be the bmw ball joints culprit or other parts.

1) Wheels not balanced. (missing weights)
2) When was your last alignment
3) Uneven rotors/break pads.

You may have an option besides the dealer. When I was in Georgia I was lucky enough to have a German mechanic named Dieter who worked on nothing but Bimmers and Benz's. He was BMW certified from Germany, super honest, and had fair prices. Look in the phone book and see if you see a place with a name like "Autobahn" or something super German and check it out.
