SMG Transmission - United Bimmer Community

a couple of days ago i saw an article about smg transmission conversion for the 325ci, i have a 325ci 04 stickshift and i want to do this conversion to my car, any ideas where can i get it????

well you would have to get teh transmission, you could always go to the dealer but why the hell would you want to pay that much.. and cmon, you have a stickshift, you should keep that and be proud of it

If you live somewhere that having a stick is practical, keep it and enjoy it! I would do SMG only if local traffic really sucked.

Still don't see the appeal of it, and can only guess what the repair estimate/trade-in value will be when it starts malfunctioning...

well actually the local trafic in guatemala really sucks and I mean it! is like the fastest u can go is 100km/h (60mph), by the way cuse 330ci, really nice ride, we have the last E46 that will be made

I've driven 2-3 e46s with SMG, they are really nice and shift smoothly. Not the same feeling in the e46 M3, but same idea.

Never never land. Actually, finishing up the finance degree and looking for a job. Seattle is looking mighty nice.

I got an email from "sammy35" at United Bimmer Community about his X5 microfilters.

Thought I'd drop by and see what been up lately! Saw this SMG thread and comment about how nice SMG is in an e46 3-series other than M3.

retrofitting a SMG would probably cause a lot of costly problems down the road.

Actually if you do it right, we have had no problems servicing e46 3-Series with SMG. Just like a regular e46 check up.

Of course, I suggest have a BMW dealer estimate to do the switch over.

I know you can do it with an e46 M3, from manual to SMG.

Yeah because the the e46 M3 is designed for the SMG, I'm sure there has to be some different fitting to be done to put it in a 325

Thanks man. Yours looks pretty sweet too. My first bimmer was alpine white, i'm a huge fan of that color.
