Exclamation Gargling noise,, HELP !!!

Hey everybody ;

i was googling tonight and by mistake i found this super AWESOME website. what i was googling actully is an answer for a question that i have ...

My question's regarding one particular noise coming from engine bay under load (and accelerating).

When gear's put in neutral and engine rev'd, the sound is incredibly smooth all the way up (love that!!). : However, in the gear, under load, engine (or something in the engine bay) makes this deep gurgling, gargling noises. This sound is there only with transmission in the gear, accelerating ( specially when the rpm is lower than 1500 during acceleration) ...

I hope this is normal... Is it??? :

Thank you in advance, and have a nice day!

P.S. my car is 323I 2000 and i have just changed the buellt and the tension pully

I suspect you mean "pinging" (sounds like marbles bouncing around in motor?) that usually means you need a higher octane fuel. Pinging is caused by pre-ignition and happens when under load. Also a motor that has alot of carbon build up will "ping" under load. Fill up with a higher grade of fuel then take a long (100mile) roadtrip at highway speeds will help cure this. Note: You DON't have to beat it to death - just a long cruise will help rid you of the noise.
