Steering Controls Help Needed
 
I have an 01 I am reconditioning, 1st BMW so I am not familiar with the vehicle, My volume controls and cruise do not work, but the switch to activate the cruise does come on the consul, any thoughts?

Correction, Checked fuses all ok, the cruise control now works, all controls on the other side not working no illumination on any of the controls.

..With 14 views and no responses, this appears not to be a common problem...I will take it to a dealer

In case someone else has this problem I found the information on another site


Jerry, I mainly see a faulty Slip ring coil assembly causing this. Also usually see airbag light on too. The slip ring is the component that connects the rotating buttons with the stationary column. You must take airbag off. Advisable to do so with the battery disconnected and key off. Let me know if you need further instruction.
