Your Ride: 2003 330xi
Warranty or not?
Hello everybody,
great info on here... I've been lurking in the shadows as I'm kinda a newb...
My first Bimmer is a 2003 330xi all options...with 43k Miles. I've only owned the car about 6 months. My full BMW warranty coverage ends this month.
I just had an oil change this weekend. And I believe the next 15k visit I'm up for the II checkup.
Since I'm the second owner I can't extend the warranty from BMW, but I can get it from a 3rd party company...
What has been your experience? Is it worth it? Should I do it...or should I just go without warranty. 3rd party
For $900-1000 I extended the "maintenance" to a 6years/100k Miles through my Dealer as I figured brakes (never had work done to them) and the II checkup and oil changes should even it out.
Any advise or comments on the topic are appreciated.
brakes are generally not covered, neither are oil changes, and I don't believe inspection II is either. What I did is search for the best independant BMW mechanic I can find and just bear the cost, it is much lower than the dealer and the work is just as good as the dealer with less cost.

^^^Good point. I would look at the fine print of the 3rd party insurer and see what they cover. Will the cover, blown head gasket, engine, tranny, etc. Whoever the 3rd party insurer is, can you bring your car to a dealership and do they directly pay the dealer or are you reimbursed. Search online the 3rd party insurance company name and see if you can find any relevant info about customer service, etc. Good luck.
