E46General discussion and technical help for 1999-2004 3 series cars.
Am thinking of getting a Short Shifter from UUC (www.uucmotorwerks.com). I have their Double shear selector rod and been going back and fourth at getting a short shifter. I hear it makes the car a LOT more fun to drive, it's typically ~ $350 for the short shifter kit. And I'd probably be doing the install my self.
What are the thoughts out their on short shifters?

They are awesome at understeer. $350 is too much to spend. I bought a used M5 shifter for 20 bucks and its throw is way shorter than the standard 540i.

I'm gonna contact them see if they would give me a bundle deal on all this...
But yeah, I'm leaning strongly on that SSK for $85

I got a short shift kit on my car. B&M. Wouldnt recomend it cause its not the best(and aparently it doesnt work very good on E36 or E46 cause the bearing gets hot and gets really knotchy.) but dam its that much more of a blast to drive.
More sporty when your in your "mood", and looks kool imho.

31% shorter from what it says. I just put in a lever from a z3 1.9 in my car as a short throw and I love it. It was also cheap at $75 and easy to do on the e30. It was a little notchy at first but has really smoothed out a lot now. I noticed a big difference and I think its 29% shorter then what I had.
