Question Just installed New Clutch PP & TB, Pedal goes to the FLOOR!

I just installed a new clutch pp and tb, I have not started the engine yet(i still have to but the intake back on) but after getting the transmission back in and everything else bolted back up I pushed down on the pedal to see how things felt.....and the pedal went to the floor , and stays there is this normal until I start the car back up????Man I hope I dont have to take the trans out again!!!! Do you have brake fluid in the car right now, the clutch works with the fluid from that. If not check into your master cylinder. Please also note that you should probably bleed the clutch and maybe your brakes if you have drained the fluid durring the process and most definitly if there isn't any fluid in there at the moment.

I didn't drain anything. I just lifted the car and removed everything. I did not remove the line or anything like that. It was working before. The reason I changed things is because the throw out bearing was bad. so i replaced everything else while I was in there

its your master cylinder, it probably isnt connected to the fork in the tranny, if you take the master cylinder out and push the clutch pedal down, the master cylinder will extend the arm and the clutch pedal will stay to the floor. if you have no brake fluid and no pressur ein your system, the spring in the clutch will bring it back up, but your master cylinder isnt hitting the fork for whatever reason

it will probably be your master cylinder then, and i dont believe you need to take out your tranny
oh and i know how you feel, when i did the clutch, i needed to take out the tranny 3 times after bolting it up COMPLETELY

turns out that the brand new clutch i had was warped.. haha wat an experience

I bled the Clutch Slave cyl.. It didn't help. So I took it off the trans and held it with the rod aginst the bottom of the car and had the wife push the clutch pedal. Again it went straight to the floor but the rod from the slave cylinder just bumped up an inch or less and went back down...So I am guessing I found the problem

possible causes may be...brake fluid is very low, needs a bmw master cylinder replacement, air in the hydraulic system, large leak in brake hydraulic system.

Weird . . that makes 3 of us here on the forum that did a clutch job at the same time. Not sure why you lost pressure in the first place, but keep pumping the clutch pedal. It'll build the pressure back up. It takes 10-20 strokes. If not, then you might have a 2nd look at the slave cylinder. But it's definitely in the clutch hydraulics- there'll be no reason to drop the tranny again.
