Question Damaged alloy wheel: repair or replace?

Hi all,

Happy New Year to you!

Ugh, my first day back at work and I run over some construction crap on the way, damaging one of my stock alloys (15" Style #13, 1994 318is)...

There's a local place that can repair alloys, but should I even bother or just buy a new/undamaged used replacement?

Suggestions, comments, recommendations?

Thanks for your time.

I'd get it repaired and use them until you find wheels you really want. That way if you need to save $$$ to get what you want then you'll have the time to $ave

I've contemplated that...

Damaging this wheel is more of a demise than I thought.

yea, I don't know anyone that plans on ruining one, but it happens quite often with the roads in most states getting more traffic & less maintenance or lack of.

The irony of it is that they were doing road construction and I ran over part of a construction sign that was tipped over.

Bleah.

An inauspicious beginning to the new year.

EDIT: Looks like not only are you a fellow bimmer fan, but a Clapton one as well. *thumbsup*

here's what I did when I had a bent wheel, I took it to a repair shjop and asked them to estimate the damage on the wheel. THey'll hook it up to a machine and tell you how betn the wheel really is.

If it's REALLY bad, I'd repair, if not, go ahead and replace. What style wheels are they?

Because I still have my factory E36 wheels and tires laying in my garage, if you'r interested...

Too late... I ordered a replacement wheel online.

But thanks for the advice... If it's cheap enough, I'll have the damaged one reapaired and used it as a spare... And I can ditch the ugly steel spare.

Yay!

Got my replacement wheel, got it mounted, and installed a couple of days ago....

Order is restored in the BMW galaxy.
