newbie
hey guys
im a newbie to bmws but im starting to learn more and more about them each day!! i own a 323is and i wanted to do some mods to the motor thats my project right now! i was thinking about an s52 but im not to sure someone told me my stock head could hold 400 hp just fine i have 100,000 miles on my car. well im outta here guys see ya in the forumns or maybe the streets you never know take care
BMW actually uses the factory block and heads for their racing cars (i.e. the ones they race on the Nurburgring, take the 320d for example). These engines are near bullet proof, but if you want to put 400hp into a 323, don't expect it to last 300,000 miles+ like most BMWS.
And Dudesky, his car should be a 2.3L. I think.

No, actually, the 323i was in fact a 2.5l engine, and BMW did not use the standard numbering system in this case . . many believe it's because they didn't want the consumers to realize that there was only a mere .3l difference between the low end and high end 3 series (the 328i). Thus, the question really is whether bmw4life99's car is an E36 or E46??
Umnitza now provides a mechanic to install all parts ordered right in the box! It's their new "Total customer service program" that will eliminate all the haters and keep incompetents from breaking **** and blaming the vendor! When you are all set simply call INS and they will pick him up free of charge.

on stock internals your car should be able to handle 400hp from some sort of FI, I wouldn't go much higher than that. But with any sort of FI it really wont last as long.. But then you could go with forged pistons, etc and have an almost bulletproof setup ready for way more power!
