Sunroof : questions/problems

so since i've had my car (about a year) i have never been able to get the sunroof to crack open. It opens all the way, like when it slides back into the roof, but the back end won't lift up... i'm not really sure how to describe it, i think you know what i mean. i'll press the button forward, the cover will slide half-way back into the roof, and the sunroof itself will only lift up about a centimeter in the back... I can push it up the rest of the way, but it won't stay. anyone know anything i can do about this? thanks.

hmmm seems that we have similar but opposite sunroof probs, mine will crack both up and down but the cover doesn't slide half way back, so if i want to crack i have to manually slide it back half way
im going to guess that it would prob be pretty hard to DIY, so the stealership may be your best bet

well a friend of mine's sunroof didn't work at all, and he bought a parts kit for it online, and fixed it himself. i guess he only used like one piece from it, so he's gonna give me the rest of the kit. hopefully i'll have what i need to fix it then. and he said it was suprisingly easy to fix. i'll let you know what i find out.

this happended to my 318.. pretty much the head peice of the sunroof (the part that has the same color "carpeting" on it isnt fastended all the way to the sunroof anymore... one day i opended my sunroof all the way and when i closed it the head part stay back in the car and the sunroof closed without it, exposing bare metal... Since then in the 318 you have to open the sunroof to pretty much all the way (so the head liner doesnt go all the way back into the car) and when you close it, pull the headliner back over it.. ghetto i know.. but what this did allow me to do was slide the headliner back and then push the sunroof button up as to vent (which it wouldnt cause it was broken) but then i could push it up with my hand if i so desired... a lot of work for it huh?> haha the only time i did was for pics.. anyways not a huge help just exlpaing what happended to me! Summer is coming around and its nice to have!.. maybe harmony can take a look at it for you.
