E90 Push-Start/STOP Switch DIY....?? - United Bimmer Community

Hi All,

Been awhile.

Managed to get hold of the 'last piece' of an E90 PSS switch and trying to get hold of wiring daigram....(will post this thread or move it to the E90 as well)

I was inspired by this DIY article submitted by Colin Nicol. His Z8 switch is only to START and not to STOP..

Items bought from local bimmer agent: (Pics enclosed)

1. E90 PSS Switch
2. Single Line Connectors - 6 pcs
3. 16 guage wire
4. 30A/12 V 5 pin relay.

Total cost: BND 100.00 eq to USD 63.00

Anyone care to shove me in the right direction....? Would be ready to contribute to a DIY which has START/STOP option.

Guess so rooz, still trying to get hold of a wiring daigram either the E36 or E90. TO establish the pin connection off the switch...

Hey, when I get home tomorrow I can post the wiring schematics for both of those... the e90 will be harder to get together, but I should be able to w/o much of a problem.

what year e34 do you need the schematics for? same for t he e90.

My car is a E36. Since the switch is of the E90, appreciate if I could get the schematic of the E90. As it involves a START/STOP function.

The schematics for the E90 are one of the final items being uploaded to my server... should be up tonight or tomorrow (come on a DVD) I'll see if I can pull the E90 info itself for you and toss it up on here tonight when @ work.

I can put up a DIY on a start button install, I haven't looked into the E90's start/stop button wiring - but should be able to in the near future if Kite doesn't beat me to it.

^^^ For this Start (or Start/Stop) button, would I need to have the key in the ignition? Or does it bypass that?

yes, you'd need the key in the ignition on the 'run' position. if you wanted to not need the key (which I'd think would be a great security risk) I can look into that as well so that you'd have an on/off switch then the start button.
