It happens because BMW uses a closed system, as opposed to an open system which doesn't build pressure at the overflow tank. On the latter type, the reservoir tank caps allow air to pass freely.
^^^yea, something like that. There's a finite amount of air in the system, and when it gets hot, it expands, forcing some of the liquid out of the reservoir tank.
ah indeed. cause i noticed over time the level when cold would drop. but stay constant for awhile. but soon as I opened the cap.it went to how it Used to be....since i didnt have leaks or anything I always wondered where it went lol
