Cold Start Question

My first posting on the board. I think this is a great website, and it helped me a lot when searching and negotiating for a BMW.

Anyway, I have purchased my first bimmer. A 1998 328ISC 5 Speed with 34,000 miles on it. The car runs 100% perfect.
The last 3 mornings the temperature was below 40. when I start the car, the rpms bounces between 1400 - 1500 3 times, all within 5-8 seconds, then goes down to 1000. Is this normal on these cars? If not, has anyone else ever experienced this?
Any advice would greatly be appreciated.

Thank you

Sounds like a little moisture/condensation in tank - get yourself a bottle of STP gas treatment (you could treat it to injector cleaner which is just more concentrated) but the $1.29 stuff with at least 10 gals will help that. Also is all maintenance up to date, old plugs will do that too.

Yup, All plugs are new. I'll try some injector cleaner.
Thanks
