E36General discussion and technical help for (E36) 1992-1999 3 series cars. 318, 323, 325, 328.
i'm curious to see what everyone's first car was. i know my 328 is my second car and my first was a 94 saturn SL 5spd with zero options. the motherfucker didnt even come with a tape player or a passenger side mirror. it had all the black plastic on the mirrors, door handles, bumpers, etc. 14 inch steelies with some beautiful hubbies on there. since i knew without wasting a ton of money it would never be fast (95HP at the crank ) i decided to make it look better and handle like a go cart. so i dropped it 2.5 inches all around w/ spriont lowering springs and KYB gas struts, put 15x6.5 ADR designs wheels on, spacers for the back, and a strut bar in front and let me tell you, on windy roads, that thing was NASTY. i had cheapo racing seats with corbeau 4-pt harnesses and you could throw yourself around 90 degree corners at about 40. it wasa shitbox but i loved it cus i had something!! (obviously i painted all the black shit white which made it look a lot better and did small things like smoke out the amber in the tail lights and put all clears up front, short shift kit, etc. didnt even waste my time on engine stuff) ill have to repost for a picture but i wanna see/ read about your guys's first rides!

my 'un-official' car was an old clunker that my parents had sitting around, i never drove it in town(this is when we lived in the coutry) i just used it to learn on. my first official car was my tbird. great first car. loved it. my second car was a 1961 bug, but it unfortunately never got finished(it was a project) and my third car is HOPFULLY going to be a 1967 ford galaxy 500. good stuff man.
my first car was a 1978 cadillac fleetwood brougham. it was my moms car before. we got it used for $150. 425 cu in V8. it apparently had 195 hp @ 3800rpm, and 320 lb/ft torque at 2400rpm with a 3 speed automatic.
looked like that, but it was blue. and only had 1 hub cap. and beat to shit. the headliner was gone, just foam up there. the nose cone was lost due to a deer so it had a red one from a junk yard. no heat, full of junk, sometimes wouldnt start, and when it was on the road, it couldnt go faster than 50, engine couldnt do it.
91 318i. Had 84k miles on it when we bought it. Well my parents did. $4900 out the door.
Runs like a dream at 144k miles. Has bilstein touring shocks, new stock springs, TMS Conforti chip, new stock exhuast(sounds..bad) and some new front bushings/control arms, Hawk pads and Brembo rotors.
Handles really good, is reasonably quick and fun to drive.

I might also add that my car is also kind of like my 1st car, I have been driving it since I got my license but it wasn't mine, I always had to ask to drive it, the jeep i could just get in and go, no questions asked thats why i say it was my 1st. I don't think I have any pictures of it anymore.
Mine was a Saturn, too. A green 96 SC2, it was cute but, my god, something new broke every week. It was a pos but your first always has a special place in your heart.

for some reason this is very true. i used to kick the crap outta that cadillac (and it didnt do anything, damn steel boat) and i hated it, but i still have a hubcap in the closet here.
