Painted rotors!!!

Okay, I broke down and painted my rotors black. I was tired of seeing rust on my brand new rotors, so here goes.

This is what they looked like Day 1:

And this morning:

I should probably do the back rotors now... but I'm cold.

Should've done stainless brake lines while you were there...:doh (I know should've, could've, would've...)

mullethunter3 11-19-2006 05:36 PM

^^^Yeah, I would have, but they're hella expensive.

what kind of paint did you use. i used red engine block spray paint and it was pretty messy.

thats a small detail that is normally overlooked, well done. your gonna have to do it again when u upgrade those brakes! i have zimmermann cross drilled rotors and EBC greenstuff pads all around and they work great, not very pricey either

mullethunter3 11-20-2006 11:39 PM

^^^215, I just did. Three months ago.

Oh, it's some Dupli-Color Caliper paint. It's brush on. Really controllable. All the guys at Auto-Tards tried to sell me the spray stuff, but this way is totally better. No taping. 1/4" brush. It's really easy. I did my calipers with the same paint. I had some left over and this is what happened.

Have u seen brake caliper covers made from ceramics? there an auto shop here that sells these that u put over your stock calipers. Comes in red and black. the funny thing is that they have the 'brembo' logo on them so it fools any1 looking at them to think that your are using brembo calipers. it saves you to paint the calipers and does help to keep brake dust to a minimum.

mullethunter3 11-25-2006 09:46 AM

Yeah, BavAuto sells them, they are around $315 for one set (front or rear). Paint? $15.
