What BMW 325i's have you driven in the past? What year were they? 1992 or 1993+? You might be comparing a Non-vanos motor (1992) to a single Vanos motor (1993+). The Vanos motor will have a bit more power. Where the 325i's manual or automatic? Manual cars are at least 1-1.5 seconds faster than an Automatic car.
Under the hood do you suspect anything different? Intake, etc? Do you know where to look for a chip?
I suspect a chip and possibly an intake and nothing else.
Visually your car has aftermarket wheels and an ACS pinstripe kit. The front and rear bumpers are stock 1992-1993 bumpers. Your mirrors aren't painted so thats something new I haven't seen (Early 1992 or 1993?) The wing looks like a standard M3 sedan wing.
Give use these details and an underhood shot and we can figure out what makes you think your car is "faster" than other 325s.

This car, (no vanos) went head to head in a controlled environment with a 325i with similair age, both automatic, - im not sure the exact year. but mine won. theres not much to just putting it in sport and planting your foot down.
thats why i wonder? lol

intake still looks standard, i wouldnt know where to look for a chip :S
Sometimes a car just happens to be in better shape than others. You know, little things, like fuel/air filters, spark plugs, ignition coils, etc.
From your picture, you seem to have a regular E36. To know if you have a chip, search for chipping DIY's, since they will tell you where to go to take out your chip. The reason I don't provide this information myself is that I do not know.

well thanks for all the advice guys.
considering the amount of free time on my hands i dont have time to find the chip, so im considering pulling the acs pinstriping off and leaving it as a sleeper.
i'm just scared it might leave unfaded lines on the paintwork even thouhg mullethunter3 didnt have a problem (its a black car right?)

Think silver, minus the pinstripes and the rear spoiler. your car looks similar to mine. there's a guy in my neighbourhood that drives a black 328 acs tuned car. Its got acs wheels and a generic bodykit with them acs badges. But i never seen it outside on the highway. Maybe its just a cruiser. But those accessories for the interior cabin are really sweet!
