I Want My Car Back

So for my b-day my car has gotten the ENTIRE body repainted, i had a post earlier about the clear coat spots........yeah they were bad

but when this is done Ill be close to perfection, still need to get lower control arms fixed and get my mechanic to REPAIR my valve cover gasket AGAIN assuming the oil isnt residual. and Rear subframe bushings (their cheap right?) and then finally interior

but tell me this guys
120k on this 93 bmw
Is it worth it to install engine mods? and how much longer U think i got left on the engine, or would it be a waste

but yeah i get it back tommorow, ill get some pics
sorry had to rant

i dont know if you will take any offense to this, but it seems your car has quite a few problems(or has experienced them atleast) i dunno if you wanna install engine mods on this car or if you wanna buy another one that maybe is less troublesome and put mods on that one, i mean 120K is nothing, but some cars are just "having a bad day" everyday.. lol, is it auto or stick?

auto.
and my car doesnt really have many problems. just that oil leak thing....but technically that should be fixed.
the others are just preventative
and I overdo things sometimes since the only problem it has had is that oil leak valve cover....which he just did wrong im guessing. besides that , it just needs control arms replaced. the paint was for my b-day it didnt really need it.
and thats it
oh yeah replaced o2 sensor one time, but....yeah

i dont see where u think my car has had alot of problems. i mean....it hasnt had any engine problems especially. what i was asking tho is. if 120k is consdiered too high mileage for mods. or if was like u said "nothing" for a bmw

yeah, 120K is nothing to a BMW. go ahead and mod it, i just wouldnt recomend anything that would give it a whole lot of power(aka a turbo or something. haha.) considering its almost 14 years old.

Actually, I've heard that the older E36's are better candidates for forced induction, since the top half of their engines are beefier.

I have heard that as well. But you don't want to FI an auto anyway, so stick with the NA mods: CAI, Exhaust, Chip, etc.

Mod away maestro. Enjoy your car. The control arms won't be bad to replace. Check out arizona autohaus for the parts. They had the best deal when I bought my lower control arms and they were lemfoerder brand (OEM).

see before i bought my car, i found out how many owners it had, how often it was driven, service, all that crap. endd up me buyin a 328i '96 sport from a 63 yr old german dude that importend the car from germany in 2000. it only had one owner, him, and i bought it at 98,270 miles. its stick drives beautiful car has been taken care of in superbe condition so I wouldnt mind putting in 5k or so to get it like i want it. ima keep the car ofr life i know itl' last me, compared to urs idk if i would want to put in too much money since it sounds like you had a bunch of things wrong with ur car. think twice about puttin in too much mony into an older car that God knows who and how the last owners drove it. know wut i mean?

lol. maybe your car does not have lots of problems but it seems everyday you have a new thread complaining about something. i think you just complain too much about stupid shit. no offense or anything

all i would do to an auto is cai and exhaust. even those are not going to net you much power. maybe 5hp at most. if you are going to keep the car do a 5spd swap and then mod away. other than s50 cams you are pretty limiited for making any power.

at 120k your motor has lots of good years left assuming it is well maintained. based on many of your posts that sounds iffy

if you motor is healthy i would do the tranny swap and then get the trm turbo kit, $4500ish with tuning and everythign, and have fun with the great power you will have.
