Question help.. starter motor spinning out of control

okay i was swapping motors in 325i same exact everything..now i'm ready to start the car, however as soon as i connect the battery without the key being in the ignition, the starter motor just starts spinning. So i took back off the battery terminal, i went back in the front and took off the red wire from the power supply that comes out of the starter, now the car gets no power whatsoever without that wire being connected.(because it also comes out of out the fuse box).. need help..

looks like the starter wire is shorted, or maybe the to different wires going to the starter are touching?
