^^^They're the same, although the wattage can vary a little. The difference between Hx and 900x bulbs has more to do with the mounting and installation method. They're different sockets and connections, and they're not interchangeable.

I heard with HID's even with projector lenses, the light output is only brighter in short distances, and you actually can't see as far as the other style?

I don't know, I think Rooz should be able to answer that- he's got a lot of experience with HID's.
