You can spend a over a thousand dollars modding a M50 and not make up the 30 ft/lbs of torque the M52 has over a M50.
A M52 with M50 manifold and software is the way to go. If you have the cash upgrade to S52 cams and M3 springs/retainers if you plan to spend a lot of time near redline.

do bolt ons to an m52, and an m50, there will be a large difference.

Thanks for the input guys. I know the benefits of the m52 vs. m50. I am taking a very close look at this car.
My other option is to put off buying a car for 6 months or so and picking up an m3. Does any one like this option?

i would either hold out for the m or turbo the 325. turbo 325> m unless m is turbo'd
and obd2 is much better than obd1, just that less people know how to work with it.
