my new baby and a little blue smoke
Hello all. I love BMW 3 series and just bought a 325is 1993 e36. Its CLEAN. I am not an expert with cars, but i am not stupid. I would like to start getting my 325is ready for performance. There are a few things i would like to fix before i start doing that though...
One thing... the car has 130k miles on it. It expells a little blue smoke on occasion. I was wondering what the problem would be and how i could fix it with performance parts. I have an idea what it would be, but i would like to know what ALL i would need to replace and what a good performance brand would be to do that with. Could it be the valves and the rings? If so can you give me exact names of what i would need to replace, as well.
I want to do a good job with my new baby. I want her to last a long time and be a great performance car.
Oh, and do any of you know a good repair manual i could get?
they recommend the bently repair manual, thats probably the best one, however personally the personal DIYs are often much more detailed and easier for you, secondly, the blue smoke, that means one thing, ur burning oil, whether its the rings or not(most likely is) if your gonna rebuild that far down, then there are many performance parts, like new cams, etc etc

Rings are cheap. But i am wanting to know if there is more that i would need to replace besides rings and what i would need to replace them with... with performance and budget in mind.
haha, good point.. but to answer your question, you may as well, as long as you are going to open the engine, you may as well bore it out, get new pistons, cams, valves, springs, basically have a brand new souped up engine
