i am an owner of a bmw e36 318is coupe, i recentley had my car vandalised, my airbox was ripped out. i know i can replace that with an induction kit. i am having a problem with the fuel consumption and there is a lot of smoke coming from the car and also the performance is not the same. CAN ANYONE ADVISE IF I PUT ON INDUCTION KIT WILL THIS SOLVE THE PROBLEMS OR IS THERE MORE I NEED TO DO ????????????????????

Airbox being the intake and air filter? If so all u need to do is replace it and youll be fine. I recommend the Jim Conforti Cold Air Intake (CAI), very nice sound, gives you decent gain in hp.

THANK FOR ADVICE BRO. tHE PROBLEMS I MENTIONED, DO YOU THINK ALL THESE THINGS CAN BE AFFECTED BECAUSE OF AIR FILTER IE BLACK SMOKE , BAD PERFORMANCE AND FUEL CONSUMPTION, I AM CURRENTLEY ONLY GETTING 20MPG WHERE AS BEFORE IT WAS ABOUT 35MPG PLEASE HELP.?

do you still have the sensors and stuff, without them you might have troubles. you might also want to make sure all the rubber lines are connected. I had one come off when i changed my air filter and i had a rough idle that would die.

Well first off, caps lock isnt a good thing.

The black smoke could be caused by carbon deposits but in ur case it probably isnt if it wasnt doing it before. Its probably that the mass air flow sensor (MAF) was riped out to and is causing the car to run rich. That would also explain the poor fuel consumption.

Its the sqaure little box looking thing that sorta sits atop the hose behind the heat shield.

Is it also throwing a check engine code?
