Looks like a ton of mods, which means it has most likely been driven hard . If you're looking for the power, go 325. Not necessarily that one, but you can find a nice one for under $8k.

I wouldn't pay 6.5k for the 325, but if it had slightly lower miles I would go for that.

155mi for the '97 is a lot of miles but if you can get it for around 4.5 it might be worth it.

Today, I sold my 1995 325i for $5,800. I probably got more than it was worth, it had bad front seats, just it ran great for 158,000 miles.

If I were you I would go with the granny car, 318. It looks in great shape and it probably wasn't driven very hard.

If you sold your 95 325i with 158k miles on it for 5.8k...that worries me, If the granny (thats right, a granny is selling me the granny car) gets what she wants I'm paying 5.5k for a '97 318is with 155k miles on it. That doesn't seem like a deal at all...

with my 2600 pound E30 318 with TMS chip i get 25-MPG dricing freeway and moutain roads. Highway i get 40mpg around 80mph.

also the M42/44(4 cylinder) is an inline 4. V4 would be a street bike.

4.5 sounds good.
as for the mileage...its not that bad. My car has 140k and it can still reliably do 1000mile trips no problem.
