Brake Bleeding with AST?
The Bentley manual has a procedure for bleeding the brakes, but it warns that it is not applicable to cars with AST, automatic stability control, which my car has, saying that "special BMW service equipment is required." Yet in checking the various on-line DIY sites for bleeding the brakes I have encountered no mention of this whatsoever, and I doubt that AST is that rare a feature on 3-series. Is Bentley playing it overly cautiously for some reason? Anyone know what's up with this? :dunno

You might want to call a "stealer" to be sure, but I believe they manually bleed AST or "low pressure bleed" AST systems. :dunno
A mechanic friend of mine told me that Bentley is simply being 'overly cautious.' As far as I know, the procedure in the manual does not get the old fluid out from the AST system, so when you are done, you will have a little bit of old fluid mixed with the new fluid inside the brake system.
Try calling the dealership, although I tend to believe they will tell you whatever has the most potential to make them money.
