I didnt see any fluid leaking, and my coolant levels looked fine, and I assume......oil wasnt leaking cause if it did, my engine would be smoking from the burning oil, but it wasnt

Ok false alarm, it was some kinda hose that just recycles used oxygen but it doesnt affect my car besides idle, i took it took a BMW specialty repair shop (and volvo's vw etc..) and they said it might affect my idle, but basically all I was doing is polluting the air more, I knew my car didnt seem to drive any differently

Hard to tell exactly what the arrow is pointing to. It looks as if it is pointing to a vacuum hose that is connected to the breather connector at the valve cover and the other end connects to the ICV valve under the intake manifold.

that's a vaccuum hose right there. they come undone, get old and break, it's not unusual.

the silver thing is just your valve cover, and in that certian area, under the silver thing is the timing chain, btw, the silver thing extends accross the whole engine, its just that there is a black plastic cover with the letters BMW written on it, and yes 93's do have vanos, do you have the bulge in the front?

yeah i got the bulge. so it's not my pistons or cams that perhaps could be making a knocking noise, cause I tracked it down to the silver thing....and it makes a vibraty /knock noise when i rev up and the car is like revving down, of course it doesnt do it ALL the time
