Need Condenser/Aux Fan

Anyone have an auxilliary fan they want to part with? Cheapest I found was $99 on ebay. Looking for something cheaper. My clutch is also going bad so i want to do the Fan Delete Mod at the same time.

Alternatively, anyone try putting in a third party electric fan to replace the aux fan?

It's been done before, although I don't have details. Lightweight and clutchless, as long as it's no heavier than the OEM unit, so you don't increase engine load & parasitic drag. It also should fit the fan shroud as close as possible, since its main job is to pull cool air through the radiator.

On the aux fan, I doubt you'll get them any cheaper. Myabe you could try a used one from Bav Recycling:

I have a question... I just had to replace my fan and it was like $30 something bucks from a dealership... which fan are you doing? I thought mine was called th aux fan.... the one on the engine right? Or are you talking about the one right behind the grilles in the front?

the electric fan in front of the condenser. You had your mechanical fan replaced. I'm deleting that and replacing with a second electric fan.

the fan delete mod is where you remove the engine fan, replace the thermostat and aux. fan switch with lower temp. units, and put water wetter in your car. what this does is by removing the fan you get rid of the parasitic drag of the fan, so your engine revs easier, and produces more power, and the new thermostat, aux. fan switch, and water wetter ensure that despite the loss of fan, your engine does not over heat.

go to www.bimmerworld.com for the kit, i think it's liek $50-60.

^^^You forgot the most important part: the fan blades are notorious for breaking off & shattering, taking out everything else along with it- water pump, hoses, radiator. Hence, no fan = no cooling system damage

So this isnt a very smart mod then, huh? If it's notorious for breaking, I mean... that doesnt make much sense to me.....

Thought?

^^^You're reading this wrong. The fan delete mod consists of removing the fan, because it tends to break, and also because of all the reasons Spieluhr mentioned.

OOOOOOOOOOOOH..... yes, I read it COMPLETELY wrong.....

So this sounds cool.... I just replaced my fan, A/C belt, water pump, thermostat about a month ago though, so I'm not taking it all out!! HAHA

Thanks DSKY!
