factory alarm or aftermarket??
Guys i need some help. I'm not sure if i should take the m3 to school this year or not. The only thing this car came without was an alarm . I can get the factory alarm for $275, or i have been looking on bavauto.com at the alarm company they sell, Stellar Alarm System/Keyless Entry. what kind of alarms do you guys, have? Can anyone dig up a review for me? I read about c1apton's alarm system too...is there anything else that works well? thanks a lot! later

I think I'd go with as custom an alarm as you can find. That way no one should know how it's set up and a way to get around it. Are your wheels locked?

No, but I suggest it.
You might have trouble with aftermarket alarm systems into your car.
I've seen several cars that have aftermarkets and they just go off and don't unlock the doors, and it makes things difficult.
How in the world is the factory alarm $275?!?
My friend was looking into the factory for his e36 1997 318is, and it was around $120.
It doesn't hurt to try the dealership, call and see what they say.

thats at wholesale price too. i think retail is $350...i know its a lot of money, so thats why i was wondering, why not get a better one like the Stellar or the one xsperf suggested
the link i showed u, i think c1apton has one, but its a complete plug-and-play, very easy install, all you gotta do is take out ur glovebox and basically connect two connectors(or so i hear)

Mine is "plug & play" it took all of 10 mins to install. It hooks right up to factory wiring and offers all the benefits of OEM (and then some options) Besides locking & arming - you can turn on/off horn alarm (so lights flash only, it turns off fuel supply, motion sensor, glass breakage... And it cost a fraction of what the stealer wanted,
