Gears may be Slipping?!? PLZ HELP

K i have an automatic and when its in drive it seems to keep wantikng to slip down back into third. The gears also arent lined up on the cluster...like when the light is on "2" its actually in first. Dunno if that makes sense...

but ya i was just wondering if this is going to be a big problem or a reasonable fix.

How many miles are on it and has the fluid been changed?

Sounds like the shifter is not aligned properly. Or shifter cable has stretched.

when you want it to be in 2 but it is actually in 1, is it in manual mode?

BlkMagiks 07-29-2006 07:09 PM

either mode...like when im in manual shifting from 1st up it will sometimes miss 2nd.sometimes 3rd. And in auto it just keeps slipping down into 3rd while im in drive.
