Unexpected expenses.
Well today was an unexpected expense on the car. My dad is back for a short holiday and he feels something is not right about the rattling when going high speed. So we brought it to the tyre shop to check. It appears to be the rear chamber is not right.
See what happens when the chamber is not right.
The rim is bend too Still at the shop for straightening.
did u noticea decline in the handling? Or just the sound?

Had the exact same wear on my right rear and a bit on the left. Went down to the cord. Couldn't find anything bent. Had it align on all four corners and low and behold it was out a mile on the rear. I'm sure that's the major cause.
Sorry for your pain.

Hi all...
This i sto bring to (almost) everyone's attention, that the camber settings have to checked at intervals of atleast 8 months. Why, I noticed one of my close friend's brand new E46 (330i) had tyre wear on the inside. THis is due to faulty camber settings, that rise even from the factory roll out. That car had the original stock tyres and I noticed the front and rear tyres, inner side had gone bald.
Out of sheer curiosity, I got an opportunity to take care of X3 for a few days, and decided to take it to the alingment centre to check the camber settings on the X3. As expected, the settings were 'OUT'..did a hour's job of setting it back and the vehicle is fine.
Incidentally, the friend's car had a mileage of only 28K, loosing out on the threads of the tyres was a shame.
So, even a brand new car, out of the showroom, needs to be checked for its camber settings. This saves a lot on tyre wear...cheers.
