If you have a manual e36, listen up!!!
ok well this here's a story all about how my life got twist turned upside down...jk
no seriously
i had always wanted to buy an ssk but never really had the money too
i was reading up on some stuff at pelican parts and an article over there gave me this idea
the article states that if you have an e36 and want a shorter shift you can try putting in an m3 shifter or for an even short throw the shifter from an m-coupe/roadster
i asked about this at work(bmw dealership) and they said sounds good, and they told me the shifter lever from an m-coupe would only be $50
a lot better than say $200 for a B&M shifter
so i finally ordered one earlier this week and it came in today
i went and picked it up
i put it in
and well all i can say is i'm very pleased
i'd say it reduced the throw by at least %50
it's perfect, i love it
shorter than a mini
shorter than a 330 performance package
it's amazing
i love it
so basically if you're looking for a shorter throw on your e36 i'd highly recommend looking into this at your local dealership or online if you want
but yeah just letting you all know incase you've never heard of this mod, or were skeptical

I have been running the M-Roadster shifter for a long time. Where have you been?
A Z3 1.9L shifter is recommended in a e30. I believe the M-Roadster one will not work because it may hit the driveshaft. understeer.com has the budget kits there, which include extra yellow bushings and circlips to replace as well. They also have a DIY on howto bend the selector rod so you do not have it rubbing against the guibo/flexdisk.

What's the BMW Part number of the shifter so I can order it, cause the guys at the dealership I go to live on numbers and I don' t feel like standing around showing them on their comp screen what part I want.
Thanks in advance.
The part number shown for the m-shoe shifter is discontinued. I am lazy now, but you can find the replacement part number if you search on realoem.com.
