close...lol

Back on topic, "NB" it comes down to what do you want? A "straight-liner" (physeudo handler) or something that handles well but in a totally different class of car? BMWs have their quirks as you'll see by some of the posts here, but they also go 300k miles. Can't say that about too many Camaros & most old ones are "garage queens". BMWs aren't cheap to keep, but that's also reflected in resale value vs GM products. I could write a book about the pros & cons of what you're asking but it comes down to what do you want from your ride, what you can afford & how you plan on using it. Make it simple - get both of them.

well put Rooz, and 323 would be the m50 not m52, but either way, i think you should go for something older and faster, i have a pretty good feeling an M3 would be able to keep up with ur camaro (95 and up m3)

so you don't live in a trailerpark? my mistake, i forgot it was only 2nd gen that followed the stereotype. i'd forgive you if it was a manual.

again, a 323i 5 speed with a good driver who can actually drive a manual should be as fast as an autotragic camaro. hell, my previous 318is could keep up with the late 80's version v8 auto. the difference in straight line speed will be very small if at all. the bmw is also built for high speed cruising at on the autobahn.

there's a reason chevy discontinued the camaro after all. the bmw 3 series has been the leading luxury sports sedan since it's inception. it's the only car to be named to C&D's Top 10 cars for the last.. 15 or 16 years running.

Wink Thanks again.

I really appreciate all of the input.
The 323 sold 2 hours before I went to the dealership, but I did get the chance to drive a 2001 330 Ci convertible and I fell in love.
Now I just need to find one old enough to afford.
Thanks again.

the e46 convertibles are one of the nicest bmw in many peoples eyes. of course they do come at a premium in price. the 325Ci is a good alternative to the 330Ci while not breaking the bank as much. what year did they start the e46 convertible? 2000 or 01?

e46 is what I say you should look at from transitioning from a 4th Generation Camaro.

If he was thinking of buying THE VERY LAST YEARS model e36, I'm pretty sure he can somehow find money/save for THE VERY FIRST YEARS model e46. Being 1 YEAR MORE from what he originally found.

Unless, he liked the e36 model bodystyle.....then in that case, if he wanted to go CHEAP, then he should buy and e30 and put a supercharger or some other rediculous mods on it to make it cool.

Annnnd, I think I'm feeling a poll coming on.

Should he buy....

1) e30 (As Storamin says)
2) e36 (As he originally found)
3) e46 (As I say)

FYI: I never said I recommended an e30. I just said I would feel confident in recommending an e30 to someone who drove a camaro... personally I would go with an e36 m3.

Nashville Bassman.....

You think you're in love now... wait till you're cruising on the highway one day and you swear your going 60 and you look down and the speedo says 90 and it ain't lying.

not that anyone would care at this point but the e46 convertible's first production year was 2000. the e46 sedan was 1999.
Did you opt for the convertible? please post some pics. also update your profile man the z28 is gone long live the m3
