gruppeM style vs. heatshield style CAI

alright, I need a little more umph to go with my ride and am looking to go with a CAI and software cause they are necessities that I have put off for far too long.

Now for the cai, Umnitza offers...

GruppeM style, carbon fiber air box cai, for $229.00
http://www.umnitza.com/product_info....roducts_id=290

AND.

a standard CAI, with regular heat shield, for $249.00
http://www.umnitza.com/product_info....roducts_id=113

now, in your opinion, which has better performance? and do they both fit with ZKW's?

the gruppe M intake doesnt look like it will fit that we// w/ zkw's. i could be totally wrong too :P. i have the conforti intake and its kind of a tight fit w/ the zkws but it works really well. i would recomend the conforti, or the other standard cai. did u ask umnitza about the two and which they recomend?

The CAI has no known increase in HP or torque. I will be honest and that I have an intake, but I don't think it made a difference in performance. Dyno your car before and after the intake to see if it makes a difference.

The chip would do more for you, by increasing RPM, removing the limiter and changing the air/fuel ratio. As for the intake manifold, I have heard various rumors that it can help or it may not. I know for my car, to replace the intake manifold with one that increases the airflow is so labor intensive that the HP and torque gains are not worth doing it. I guess to each his own.

I think you should get the cosmos intake, but get the new version 2 instead of the original, which I have.

I think that for an intake paying an extra $100 for those 2 isn't worth it. Of course this is IMHO.

you'll get more out of the manifold if you have an intake though, my opinion would be to go intake, manifold, software

If you are thinking about airflow, intake, manifold, headers, cats, exhaust and then a chip. Ideally everything allows more air into the engine and out.
