How to remove the center console?
I just bought a carbon fiber center console like in the lightweight e36 m3 and now the only problem is how do i get to the screws to take the old one out? Anyone have a guide or can tell me how to remove the center console from a 98 m3?
Anyone know how to remove or could point me in the right direction on how to remove the center console? I was going to try and do it this weekend?
TIA |
thats a good question, I haven't needed to take mine out before, but I am sure that later tonight someone else could point you in the right direction.
Good luck with it! |
what exactly are you referring to?
I think the LTW shifter console piece that people buy is what he is referring to. The one that your window lights, hazard button, shifter, etc are inside.

estorilm3, post a pic of what you purchased please, that might help?

Auto or manual?
Hummm, when I changed my shifter arm, I almost popped that thing loose, so, I can't imagine it being that hard to just pull out. I would ASSUME that you need to remove the boot of the shifter first, then take the sunglass older out 9Just pulls out) then OBC, then you would get a clean view of how to remove it... :dunno |
It is an Auto. I will take another look there are supposed to be some screw to un do to take it apart I didnt think there would be that much to it but it looks like Im wrong :(
Yeah there is something holding it on. I did take the center shifter out the sunglass holder out and the ODBC still not budging :(
The OBC should only be held in by Velcro.
My mistake the center console is still not moving there has to be screws holding it in place. I was able to get the odbc and the sunglass holder out but i dont see anything holding the center console on. I may have to take the kick panels off?
Humm.. that I don't think so.... anyway you can take a pic of what you are looking at now?
I just looked in the Bentley, and it says to remove the driver side kck panel, so maybe there's something holding it there?
Ok one more dumb question. To remove the kick panel i have to remove the panel below the steering wheel and it (drivers side kick panel) then should come off?
