LIFETIME Trans ???

I think BMW says that it's a lifetime warrenty on trans BUT has anyone had their trans go bad?
If so, did BMW covered it.
I normally change trans fluid every 30K miles.

Thanks

96 328i 151K miles

plenty of bimmer owners have had their tranny go bad, and i dont remember any of them saying BMW replaced/fixed it for them.

I dont think they have a lifetime warrenty on the tranny. especially since they will fail at some point in their lifetime, especially automatics.

it's actually 'lifetime fluid'... but most people don't believe that.

heck no on the lifetime fluids. i have read so much on that in Bimmer mag. apparently it is just that bmw will pay for whatever happens within 100k miles, after that, your screwed.

An editor of bimmer bought a new 2004 325i, and he changed all fluids after the bimmers first 3k miles, and of course there were tons of metal shards in it as expected.

in the bavauto fast times, it said that the only reason BMW said that is to keep the maintenence cost very low, which is appealing to new buyers
EDIT: b/c remember guys, they also say change ur oil every 15K

yup, and then BMW just pays for the crap themselves, and then guess who gets the bimmer. people like us. . .

If anyone hasn't changed their tranny fluid it is a definet must. Mine didn't really have any noticible problems until after I changed the fluid then it shifted like a dream.
