installing a stater..get someone else
:gun man.. its a pain in the ASS
pay whatever... its not worth doing...
not going to my school tomorrow..going to auto(located at a diff school) and just finishing it there... 4 hours today... probably 2 tomrrow
40 bucks for 3 gaskets for my intake manifold...
1)that is one of the easiest things to install. Maybe not easy on your car, but compared to everything else on your car (i.e. clutch, diff, head gasket, etc. ) it is fairly easy.
2) 8 hours is short for a DIY
I remember when I replaced my clutch....3 weeks without a car. I thought life was over.
You have to understand, when you first tackle a DIY project, you need to figure it's going to take you a hella long time to finish. Especially if you are new to DIY's. Eight hours is fairly short. Especially for the amount of money you save in labor cost..
IMO everyone should do a major DIY on the car they own. Not only will you save money, but you will learn some major things about the car you drive.
oh i learned soo much on my car..
ya starters on most cars are wayy easy... 30 minute deal...
it took me 11 hours..but i finished... "mom i am going to work on my car..i am not going to school tomorrow" ..haha suckers
man...the starter was a pain in the ass
honestly... the placement is terrible but i guess it HAD to go there...
after taking off the upper intake manifold, airbox, hoses, sensors, electronic wiring (oh yeah..you need to disconnect the battery 1st ; ) ), then dropping the back of the tranny a few inches... i had to get a female torx wrench with a long ass extension to get the 2 mounting bolts for the starter off and on...
if you have fat hands...this will not happen with you.... dont even try
when i put everything back together..i started the car and the starter motor kept running... (NOT GOOD..it will burn out after a little while)... i connected one of the starter wires to the wrong spot.... had to fix that... then DONE!
on the drive home i noticed a smell that was....kinda like burning crayons... just a hint of that at times... what could that be?
oh yeah, is it normal to sound kinda weird for a few weeks at start up? someone told me that it is normal to sound really weird after i 1st started it up... and it has been sounding unnormal
and also... i am getting a slight scent of burning crayons when i drive... thinking it might be a hose, wire, or some shit that could be sitting on possibly the intake manifold or "some shit"....
what could it be? most of the hoses ect were already near the manifolds...so..i dont know if heat on those hoses/wires/ect would be the problem...
