That's your forced velocity panic flasher, it tells you when you car's tires are flying in the air.... if you see it light up.... you better get to praying....

It's the sensor that controls detects light. I believe it is used to dim the light when closing your door. If you have an earlier e36 chances are yours is done.

Ya my instrument cluster fuse went and the lights haven't dimmed or come on after i shut it off. Makes sense that would be the sensor in the cluster.
