Crazy Idle: Who's good with OBD I?

Okay, so I got me a brand new radiator, installed it, but now when I start the car, my idle keeps going up and down. Then the CEL comes on after about 15sec, and the throttle jumps up to 3500rpm and stays there. Pulled the codes, and it reads 1216. According to Bentley's chart, it's the "throttle potentiometer".

I'm guessing I need a new throttle position sensor, right? But I tested both the harness and the sensor pins, and they're reading the way they're supposed to. What else can it be? Did something maybe get really wet when the radiator exploded last week? Any ideas welcome

idle up and down could be a vacuum leak but the rpms rev and stick. So it could be tp sensor but not to sure

yea i dont think its your TPS sensor, especailly if it starts doing it right after u replaced the radiator(not b4) .. just like TJsbimm said, check for vaccum leaks

"D"sky, sounds like you have some of that "sticky film" (left behind from coolant) on/in some sensor/connectors. Get yourself a can of brake clean/electric contact cleaner and start spraying conections in engine compartment. Also if coolant got sucked into intake - could have some of that "goo" in your MAF, etc (get some GUMOUT or carb spray for that)

Thanks guys for the input. I knew it couldn't be the TPS because it metered just fine. This morning, I decided to pull the ICV, since it' s pretty much interacts with the TPS. Sure enough, it was stuck wide open, corroded by coolant. Have no idea how it got all the way in there, but then again, you should see the engine compartment; the stuff was everywhere.

From what I guess, it generated a 1216 fault code in error because the TPS was probably behaving erratically as it was trying to compensate for the stuck ICV. So if anyone else experiences this, you'll know what to try. Anyway, problem solved, and I have a brand new radiator . . life is all good again

Be very careful when spraying any Carb cleaner into the MAF sensor. Carb cleaner eats plastic and it can end up ruining it.

Aren't there plastic safe cleaners.. The synthetic carb cleaners seems to be very good with plastic.. Not quite sure.. I have a bottle of carb cleaner that I spray directly on plastic sometimes, and have had no problems..

Any ideas?
