E36General discussion and technical help for (E36) 1992-1999 3 series cars. 318, 323, 325, 328.
As for the electrical problem, see if you can find a place that'll do free estimates or reasonably priced estimates. Have them find the problem, give you a quote, and take it from there. You may be able to fix it yourself after that, maybe you won't. Who knows???
my dad did that for me. he took it to some douche-bag place and the owner treated me like the dumbest person to ever live. he told me something that i knew was completely wrong (because i've worked on the issue before and narrowed it down to 7 things) and then turned to my boyfriend (you know, because i don't have a penis and can't possibly fix a car on my own) and told him how to temperaily fix my car. douche.
also, i'm on another lead with that too. i might have actually found it! yes!
and the estimate is about 12 hours or more @ $100 an hour. so < $1200. fuck that.

Wow! :shocked
I'm happy that you're doing all this. It isn't going to be easy and I knew you were concerned about the $$$ issue. Stick with it, hang in there....you can do it.

that's why i don't let me wife take the car in without me looking at it, cause they always try to overcharge her. Doesn't matter where she takes it.
As for your electrical problem, it reminds me of when I was in the navy and we were searching for an electrical ground (ships are ungrounded) and we looked for about 6 months, and we finally found it in a piece of equipment that was only a month old.
The moral of the story is, it can be multiple things and you have to look and re-look. good luck with it.
So, I decided to keep my car and buy a motorcycle on the side. Sweet. Anyway, I'm going to fix it up and make it all perfect and I couldn't be more excited.
