In another forum, someone paid $750 for starter replacement. That was parts and labor. I heard you had to take the intake manifold off to replace. Is that true?

taking the intake manifold off to dot he starter would make it much easier, but takin the intake manifold off is a PAIN, however, the starter can be done w/out taking the intake manifold off

It is good to be driving again. Now if I could jut get more HP in the low end(common problem)
The starter was $180 with labor at about $80hour. 4hours=$500
$750 seems outrageous! No way was I touching the intake...

I think $500 dollars is outrageous. But I'm a cheap bas***d. And I wouldn't touch the manifold either, if at all possible.
