E36General discussion and technical help for (E36) 1992-1999 3 series cars. 318, 323, 325, 328.
exactly, you arent going to load your engine compartment w/propane, even if you tried, it wouldnt work, b/c the gas will be ventilated, its a lighter gas and will rise into the air, unless somehow your doing this w/your hood closed.. and besides, you arent going to spray it all over your engine, just the vaccum hoses

oh yea, and now reading dudesky's reply a little better, true, propane wont really explode(unless its all concentrated into one area) it will be just a flame for a few seconds then it will go out

It is possible. Mine is faulty. It hasnt' caused any major problems yet, though I was told by the dealer that it would eventually cause electrical problems down the road. I have no idea how much it is for a new one or even salvaged.
Just some background... someone had installed a convertable's DME into my sedan, so when the doors open, the windows go down a quarter inch (thinking it was in a convertable to clear the top). And that only happened after the programing in the DME reverted back to it's original software... how, I do not know, happened after a REALLY cold night....

So, anyway, I cleaned the ECU (DME), and all the relays and it turns out it must have been a relay problem because the car works fine (including fog lights) and also since I cleaned the ICV, it constantly revs at 800
