E36General discussion and technical help for (E36) 1992-1999 3 series cars. 318, 323, 325, 328.
Well the weekend before last everything came in and the install was started. Thanks to the help of Rob and others on BFC (Robert, Matt, Brian, etc..) the install went really smooth. Here are some pictures I took, but was too busy to keep taking more shots.
The car runs beautifully, starts on the first turn, idle is perfect, and screams after about 3000 RPM. Now I have to wait a few hundred miles and get it dyno'd.
e34 m5 clutch/flywheel? whats that like man, I would like a bit of a review once you break it in if you don't mind.
That is an awesome project, did you/are you going to convert it to OBD1?
The flywhell revs like crazy.. I am trying to keep the revs under 5k.. But that is really hard to do. The E34 clutch is very smooth and easy to modulate.
The mods include: ODB1 conversion, 24lb injectors, 3.5 HFM, Turner chip, fan delete, and of course the stage 2 flywheel.
Right now the car is pretty insane. There is power everywhere in the rev range. There was a few things that I have been taking care of, and after the 500 miles I am going to change the oil again, and change the tranny fluid. After that the real fun should begin.
More pictures. Nothing too exciting:
The old engine. 92 325 engine with 260,000+ miles on it. Check out the valves, they were not cleaned for the picture, that is how me and Rob found them.
Throttle body. Again really clean.. No idea why..
Another picture of the intakes.. We wiped this with a clean towel and only got a little oil residue. No dirt.
Car sans engine.
Ready for the engine.
Engine ready to go in. Headers painted, ready to go.
Shot with the clutch installed.
The VIN. 7/99 M3 3.2 engine..
nice. i would love to do that to my car.
heh. How much was total cost?

Rob just beat him to post up the "Look what I bought" thread, before Karl could post up the "Look what I bought to replace the thing I just sold" thread.
