perfomance chip question
just bought a perfomance chip did not install it yet
i`ve been running on 89 octane due to gas prices
should i run 92+ for a while before i install the chip
or i could install the chip as soon as i change to 92 octane
thanks
well yea, you really really should run higher octane, i believe you should run 93, otherwise you will get horrible gas mileage, so youd actually save yourself $$ on gas, and if you drive your car right, kinda depends on ur chip, you may actually get better gas mileage, of course, assuming you go 93
and if you think about it, in the end, its like what, 5 bucks more for a whole tank?

It think what he's asking is should he run a tank or two of high test before he installs the chip. Or just fill it up with high test and then install the chip. I don't believe it would hurt either way. The knock sensor would help the engine with the little bit of 89 left in the tank. Just make sure to run high test after the install, should be okay.

Nothing!!!!!!!!!!!! U.S. cars are more restricted than other models throughout the world. For some odd REASON, U.S. thinks by slowing cars down will keep the people on the roads safe instead of strengthing laws on liscenses. Also they restict the exhaust and govern speed. Thus, they are buzzkills and should be slapped in the nuts!

Ok.That make sense. That's the reason why Euro M3 is different from US M3.
There's one article, US version M3 is just like a tuned 328i.

Yes, there are so many exhaust computer and speed limiter to name a few. Like take the Subaru STI it has four catalytic converters to make emission legal in the states. TREE HUGGERS!

Umm, ok euro_driver... Basically, zeaq, different enviromental rules in the US restrict the engines in almost all the states. California's enviromental regulations are much more strict. But that's more towards thier quality of fuel, hence that state having one of the largest fuel costs (among other factors).
Oh, and the speeds are governed because, well, we have speed limits in the US, unlike on certain routes in Europe. I could go on a rant on euro_driver, but that's not the point of this thread.....

Really? Care to elaborate? If we're talking E36, the E36 M3 (US) is ~240hp, correct? Stock E36 328i (US) is around 190hp. If tunned.... your talking what...like a supercharger? Then of course it'll be the same. I know that if I were to bring my 328i (E46) to AA and get their charger, I'd get pretty damn close to the E46M3.
