MAF sensor or coil
 
I have (94) 318 is. Its runing real rough under a load when you give it extra gas, I took off MAF and it was slightly sticking someone said to replace cuz it probably warped. Then I thought about coil bar . any ideas I love my bmw and want to nake her purr again. Also when to buy sensor? Thanks :cry :dunno

What are you refering to with "coil bar"?

With the car running, unplug the MAF. If the idle improves then the MAF is bad. You can clean the sensor in the MAF with contact cleaner. Also check for vacuum leaks in all of your hoses and intake boot.

the ignition coil that the spark plug wire are attached to. tried the disconnect and runs real ruff. It does sound elecrical really misses when you change gears and give it full amount of gas or rev it up. Bit when i am cruising sounds ok unless i give alt of gas, Thank you

Well of course if you disconnect a coil pack the car is going to run rough. I said to disconnect the MAF, not the coil packs.

Get the OBD system scanned for trouble codes and see what pops up. That will help diagnose the problem.

update put in new coil and maf sensor and new spak plug wires and is rnning like champion thanks for your input.
