It's to bad they don't enforce "Truth in Advertising" then some of the ads would read:

Chevy - another POS from "Genetial Motors"
KIA - "built by pygmys with pride"
Buick -"like driving your grandmothers couch"
Mitisbushi - brought to you by the same folks that built the "zero"
Ford Trucks - Maytags on wheels

I could be mistaken, but didn't BMW build engines for the Krauts' war effort?

Wasn't it all german car manufactures? Weren't they all forced to produce airplanes and maybe tanks too? Just like here in the US, right?

Yea they were forced to drop car & cycle production and build aircraft engines. That's why it took them so long to get back on their feet after the war. The allies wouldn't let them go back into production until they proved it was for non military use and made them re-tool from scratch.
Funny how things work out - Rolls built English aircraft motors back then, now BMW owns controlling interest in Rolls.

BMW started out making airplane engines in World War I. The BMW blue/white logo is a spinning prop. The jet engine was invented by an Englishman called Whittle. BMW also made prop engines and the jet engine for the Messerschmidt 262, swept-wing jet. Well, enough boring history.
