I was browsing the old pages of BMW forums.I saw Komodo's thread.Your 328 has steptronic?? :confuse:

Zeaq I think steptronic was pretty standard on the automatic transmisions sold on the e36 (someone correct me if i'm wrong). Its basically a way to select the gear the transmision is in to make it sportier. I thought you had a thread about it not too long ago.

Yep, it's pretty much standard. There's the A/M button (auto/manual mode), and when it's in M, you have to change the gears yourself by moving the shifter up and down, however it's pretty slow shifting. :duno

I tried that steptronic crap like once on my car, it was slow...

nick_318is 02-05-2006 10:02 PM

^yea the steptronic sucks, I have driven loaners from the dealer and played with it and my mom's mini has it and it is so slow, adds a little bit of fun to the slushbox but you have to time it about a second before you want it, I just wish the mini had a stick.

I'm starting to think that sticks are a dying breed. Most people can't drive them, then again most people can't drive ;)

bleh not really man, any car enthusiast is going to want stick, and the tuning scene is larger than ever now with the internet and all.

"sticks" will never die - they may change but we won't see elimination of the stick in our lifetimes. They have their purpose :videogame

I can't imagine driving anything else. But more and more cars are coming out with either no stick, or steptronic type transmissions.
