HID Install

Hey guys... I have been sitting on Xtec kits from understeer.com for quite a while now, not getting the chance to install them yet. They are 6000k in color. I am looking forward to doing the mod when I get some free time.... Is it difficult? Where do the ballasts go?

I realize they aren't legal for road use, but does that mean they wont pass inspection? My headlights are the euro lights and are not DOT approved, but they passed inspection... Will the HIDs get me into trouble?

One other question - anyone know how to adjust the euro lights that have the extreme cutoff?

Yeah, most of our headlights are illegal... Police don't know the difference, and they don't carry a machine that can test it even if (by crazy chance) they suspect it's illegal. You're fine.

And for the adjusting, I'm pretty sure there's a screw on the top-back that you can tighten or loosen to flex the harness, adjusting the beam higher or lower.

i hear you K, but I think most all headlights and tail lights that are legal are marked "DOT"... I think if they suspect it, you're f-ed.

What if the headlight has that printed on the bottom? They're not going to make you pull over, open your hood, take a screw driver and remove your headlights right there... heh

ps - the screws in the back of the lights seem to adjust side to side, not up and down....

There should be another screw then. There's two, one for horizontal adjustment, one for vertical.

I'm really waiting until my M3 bumper comes in (another week or so), then I'm gonna do another large photoshoot and update pics and modlists everywhere.

you should be fine with HID kits. So many cars have them today, and BMW's are known as higher end automobiles that no one would even bat an eye.
